Zoo Careers 11 to College
Considering a career in the field of animal care? Choose an area of focus for this intense, immersive zoo career exploration.
This is an intense exploration of working with animals including everything from scrubbing and raking, to preparing animal diets and so much more. Gain insight into managing a world-class zoological facility with opportunities to interact with zoo staff and receive valuable career guidance.
Participants work behind the scenes daily under the guidance of professional zookeepers, attend training workshops and even prepare a special project. This is your chance to 'sample' a zoo career! Prerequisite for this camp is Zookeeping 201, Career Camp 10-12 at SeaWorld® Orlando or related experience working with animals.
Here are just some of the experiences you can expect:
- Shadow zookeepers and help with animal care
- Tour the Serengeti Plain® on a flat bed truck and even hand-feed giraffes
- Draw on the keepers’ expertise to expand your conservation facts and share your newfound knowledge with park guests
- Enjoy all the world class rides, shows, and animal exhibits Busch Gardens® and Adventure Island® offer
Zoo Careers is a 5-night long camp which begins at 12:00 p.m. Saturday morning and ends promptly Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.
Busch Gardens'® Camps are fully chaperoned resident camps that include the following amenities:
- Transportation between Busch Gardens and Tampa International Airport (TPA)
- All meals and snacks
- Two Camp T-shirts and a water bottle
- Housing at our dormitory, Mzinga Lodge
