Zookeeping The Series: Grades 10-12

Zookeeping The Series combines Zookeeping 101 and Zookeeping 201 into an exciting 12-night camp.

Enjoy nearly two weeks at Busch Gardens®. You'll participate in Zookeeping 101 and Zookeeping 201, and explore the Tampa Bay area for two days in between. Call 1-877-248-2267 to make a reservation for an extended camp.

Zookeeping 101

Assist zookeepers with their daily routine that includes preparing diets, animal training and providing veterinary care. Experience first–hand what it takes to care for a variety of exotic animals from giraffes to hippos to lemurs. Plus, enjoy all the thrilling rides and world-class shows at Busch Gardens and cool off at Adventure Island®.

Zookeeping 201

Take zoo keeping to the next level. Experience real-life, hands-on animal care at one of the nation’s largest zoos. Work alongside expert zookeepers, observe animal training methods and engage in up-close animal encounters.

Here are just some of the experiences you can expect:

  • Get an eye-to-eye view of giraffes and zebra from our safari truck
  • Assist professional zookeepers in preparing habitats, distributing diets, and observing animal behavior training
  • Engage in up-close animal encounters
  • Explore Busch Gardens’ animal exhibits and enhance your conservation knowledge about wildlife
  • Enhance your knowledge about wildlife at risk and identify ways you can make a difference during a team project
  • Challenge Manta at SeaWorld—find out what it’s like to spin and fly like a giant ray
  • Enjoy world class rides, shows, and animal exhibits at Busch Gardens and SeaWorld

Zookeeping the Series is a 12-night long camp which begins at 12:00 p.m. Saturday morning Week 1 and ends promptly Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. Week 2. 

Busch Gardens Resident Camps are fully chaperoned and include the following amenities:

  • Transportation between Busch Gardens and Tampa International Airport (TPA)
  • All meals and snacks
  • Four Camp T-shirts and a water bottle
  • Housing at our secure, onsite dormitory, Mzinga Lodge
  • Students in grades 10-12 may be eligible to receive a semester (.5 units) elective science credit per camp

Extend your camper’s adventures even further…combine camps! Get the best of both worlds and combine this program with Careers Grades 9-12 at SeaWorld Orlando. Transportation is provided between SeaWorld and Busch Gardens.
