BUSCH GARDENS® TEACHES YE TO SPEAK PIRATE FOR INTERNATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY

WILLIAMSBURG (Sept. 19, 2013) – Dead men tell no tales! Shiver me timbers! Blimey! Pirates have hoisted the Jolly Roger over the Ports of Skull™ Terror-tory™ at Busch Gardens® just in time for International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Don’t know how to speak pirate? Busch Gardens’ own Cutthroat Carter and Nargus B. Sched have taken a break from pillaging and plundering guests at Torture Hill to give their top phrases for potential sea-dogs to speak like scurvy sailors.
Arrgh! – A declaration of general discontent or a battle cry.
Arrr! – Often confused with arrgh, used as a greeting or as an expression of agreement.
Avast, ye mateys! - An order by a pirate ship commander to ship mates, which means stop what you are doing.
Aye, aye, captain! – Response used by a sailor to the captain acknowledging an order or command.
Walk the plank! – A form of punishment that often ended in death.
Watch this video of Cutthroat Carter and Nargus B. Sched to learn a few jokes to use during International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Then join in the piratical parley by tweeting a pirate phrase to Busch Gardens’ official Twitter account @BuschGardensVa.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday guests at Busch Gardens can venture into the uncharted waters of the Ports of Skull and be surrounded by all things pirate including the newest haunted house, Cut Throat Cove™, the Pirate Baaargh, Captain Barghbie’s Booty™ and the fearsome pirates of Torture Hill. Purchase a Fall Fun Card and enjoy unlimited admission to Howl-O-Scream every weekend through Oct. 27. For more information, visit www.howloscream.com/va. Parents and guardians of young children should heed this warning. At the stroke of 6 p.m., the ghouls and haunts come out to play and Busch Gardens becomes a seriously scary place. Guests are advised to consider the park’s elevated scare factor when deciding to visit Busch Gardens with young children during Howl-O-Scream.
For more pirate activities, set sail for the Pirates Pack the Park event at the Mariner’s Museum Saturday, September 21. The Mariner’s Museum attempts to break the world record for most pirates in one place. The event features interactive activities, period encampments, live entertainment and much more. The Busch Garden’s Animal Ambassador team will be featured on the Pirates Pack the Park children’s stage at 12:45 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Visit piratespackthepark.org for more information.
