SCALES SHINE AND DRAGONS ROAR ONCE MORE AT
BUSCH GARDENS’ LAND OF THE DRAGONS®
Special Celebration Planned to Celebrate Land of the Dragons 20th Anniversary
WILLIAMSBURG (March 5, 2014) – The fairy tale dragons at Busch Gardens’ Land of the Dragons® have delighted kids and families for 20 years. This spring, Busch Gardens® is commemorating this special milestone by turning back the hands of time to make its original KIDsiderate® attraction shine like new.
“Families have grown up with Land of the Dragons. Now parents who played in the land’s giant tree as children are returning with their own kids and making memories all over again,” said Park President Carl Lum.
Improvements to the area are already underway. This spring, guests can play in a rejuvenated water-play area and interact with some of the parks less cuddly animal ambassadors. A reptile-inspired show is being developed for the area’s newly remodeled stage.
“This is the land of dragons, so lizards will fit right in as stars of our new show,” said Jay Tacey, Busch Gardens’ zoological manager.
The dragons that call Land of the Dragons home are getting a fresh coat of paint, too. And guests who listen closely may even hear a roar of approval from one of the scaly inhabitants.
“We’re bringing back the dragon roar,” said Park Operations Manager Renee Carino, referring to the recorded roar was part of the original land when it opened in 1994.
Shade structures are being replaced near the stage and fans are being added in select locations for the comfort of parents who may be spending extra time in the newly remodeled land.
“Our KIDsiderate philosophy includes creating comfortable environments for parents so they can keep cool while they watch their kids play,” Carino said.
Families are invited to visit Busch Gardens on March 22 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Land of the Dragons with games, face painting and appearances by some modern-day “dragons.” Children under five can get free admission all summer with the Free 2-Park Preschool Pass, while adults who purchase a Busch Gardens Fun Card online can get Water Country USA added for free in a limited-time offer.
