The Williamsburg theme parks have a deep history of connecting with and giving back to our community. We’re proud supporters of many organizations including United Way, American Red Cross and regional charities. Ranging from school-supply drives to neighborhood outreach to coastal clean ups, we’re honored our company and Team Members are eager to participate in paying it forward whether it’s through time or charitable donations. Here’s a snapshot of our community partnerships.
Waves of Honor
SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment™ honors the men and women of the U.S. armed services through its Waves of Honor™ military salute program. The program provides free admission to the SeaWorld® and Busch Gardens® Parks, and Sesame Place® for members of U.S. armed forces and as many as three direct dependents through 2014. Created in 2001, the program has awarded more than 6.7 million theme park tickets to service members and their families.
World’s Largest Swim Lesson
Each summer, Water Country USA participates in the World’s Largest Swim Lesson (WLSL) event and so far we’ve given more than 100 free swim lessons through the program. Aleatha Ezra from the World Waterpark Association says, "Water Country USA has been a WLSL Host Location since the event's inception in 2010. They are part of a small, exclusive club of waterpark host locations that have helped spread the word that Swimming Lessons Save Lives™ to participants all four years that the event has been held. We are tremendously grateful for their amazing support!"
We’ve been supporting United Way for many years. In 2013, our parks donated more than $66,000 to the Williamsburg chapter.
American Red Cross
One of our newest community partnerships is with American Red Cross. We host Team Member blood drives annually.
- Since 2013, Busch Gardens has partnered with the local SPCA and Heritage Humane Society to raise adoption awareness for homeless animals. Busch Gardens’ Happy Tails program thanks pet lovers with two free single-day tickets to Busch Gardens when they successfully adopt a dog or cat from a participating shelter.
- During our off-season, we open our doors to local law enforcement and emergency responders to conduct their training missions and seminars.
- Busch Gardens is a proud sponsor of Achievable Dream, a local school program for at-risk students.
