Run for the Fund

Join us on Sat. October 4, 2014 for the 5th annual Run for the Fund, benefiting the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund. Lace up for an unforgettable run through SeaWorld San Antonio. Register now to participate in a 10K, 5K, or Family Fun Walk to spring or stroll by sea lions and dolphins, wild birds and reptiles. Runners, walkers, and of course the animals, will cheer you on as you support conservation efforts around the world.

Everyone that registers will get FREE admission to stay and enjoy the park on the day of the race. The fun doesn't end after the race; every participant will get to enjoy the post-race festivities and a special Shamu show! Plus, you'll receive complimentary food including fruit, frozen yogurt, nutritional bars and more.

Please bring your signed Liability Release with you when you come to pick up your packet. You will not be able to pick up your materials unless you have your completed Liability Release with you. Please note, each person MUST be present when turning in their Liability Release; no releases will be accepted for people that are not present.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup must take place before event day. Packet pickup will take place at Viola's Ventanas on October 1 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and October 2 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Viola's Ventanas is located at 9660 Westover Hills Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78251.

This event brings attention to animals in need and endangered species worldwide. Since its creation, the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund has contributed over $10 million to conservation efforts worldwide.

Your participation is powerful and will create a positive impact on the world in which we live. Proceeds raised through the runners and walkers of Run for the Fund go directly to the Conservation Fund and into the field to help wildlife and wild places around the globe. Can I register on the day of the Race?

All participants must register prior to the Race. There will not be an opportunity to register on Race Day.

Do I have to pay for parking?

Parking is free before 8 a.m. Any guest/participant who enters the park after that time will be required to purchase a regular-priced parking ticket for $17.00.

What time do I need to be at SeaWorld San Antonio?

Participants should plan on arriving by 8 a.m.

Where do I meet on Race day?

Enter the park through SeaWorld’s main entrance and park in the guest parking lot. There will be signs designating the starting lines for each race.

What awards are being presented at the ceremony?

Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finisher in each race category of both the 5k and 10k run. We will also be recognizing the Team that raises the most money.

Is my team eligible for an award?

The team that raises the most money will be awarded with a special Beluga encounter for each eligible member of that team. This animal encounter must take place the day of the race.

What are the race categories?

The 11 race categories are as follows: Open, 10 & under, 11-13, 14-17, 18-25, 26-30, 31-35, 36-40, 41-50, 51-60, and 61+.

Is there a theme?

Yes! This year, Run for the Fund is recognizing all creatures black & white, including lemurs, penguins, killer whales, zebras and more! The Fund is working with organizations around the world to assist these amazing animals in need. You can show your support for our special friends by wearing black and white on race day.

Where should I go to get my race packet?

Packet pickup will be located at Viola's Ventanas on October 1 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and October 2 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Do I need an additional ticket to stay and enjoy the park after the Race is over?

No. The Race will end inside the park. After the awards ceremony and special show have ended, participants will be released into the park from that location.

How will I know if the race has been cancelled or postponed due to weather?

Refer to website for any updates related to the race.

Can I get a refund if I cannot attend the race?

Do I need to register my baby for the Family Fun Walk?

No, children 2 and under are free. Anyone 3 and above, however, needs to register.

What if I have to leave after the Race but wish to come back to the park?

As you exit the park, your hand will be stamped. When you return to the park, show your hand stamp at the turnstiles, and you will be allowed re-entry on Race day only.

Will there be an area to change or any showers available?

Restrooms will be open for use; however, there are no shower facilities available.

Can I bring food and/or drink into the park?

SeaWorld San Antonio has a strict food and beverage policy as to what may or may not enter the park. Below is a list of what is, or is not allowed under the food and beverage policy. If at any time you have a question about items, please speak to a supervisor or Guest Services.

    • Small ice chests of six-pack size or smaller (one per family).
    • Special dietary food, diabetic, health related or dietary needs.
    • These types of specialty foods may enter the park with park management approval:
      • Baby food, bottles, jars and other baby items.
      • Fountain drinks, single serve drinks, refillable mugs (if opened prior to turnstile).
      • Reasonable quantity of bottled drinking water.
      • Juice boxes (straws must be disposed of).
      • Single servings of snacks.

            IS NOT ALLOWED:  

      • Alcohol is never permitted in through or out of the turnstiles.
      • Any alcohol from outside of SeaWorld must be disposed of prior to entry.
      • Any alcoholic beverage purchased at SeaWorld must be disposed of prior to exiting through the gates.
      • Ice chests larger than six-pack size.
      • Straws and lids.
      • Bags of fast food items, picnic baskets, sandwiches or loafs of bread (meals).
      • Soda, sports drinks or energy drinks (single serving is allowed if open).
      • Large servings of snacks.

    Can I buy additional t-shirts?

    Each participant will receive one shirt as part of their entry into the race. T-shirts not guaranteed for reservations made after September 19.

    What time does the park open to the public?

    The park will open at 12 p.m. and close at 10 p.m.

    Does my ticket include admission to Aquatica?

    No, your registration includes admission to SeaWorld San Antonio only. Aquatica will be closed for the season the day of the race.

    Is there a place to store my belongings during the race?

    All belongings will need to be kept securely in your vehicle. SeaWorld San Antonio is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
