Animal Care

The Heart and Soul of Our Company

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment™ collectively maintains one of the largest animal collections on the North American continent. We care for approximately 67,000 animals, including 7,000 marine and terrestrial animals and 60,000 fish. Our animal collection includes animals such as the cheetah, Bengal tiger, West Indian manatee, and black rhinoceros. Our world-class standards of care, state-of-the-art animal habitats, and a commitment to animal welfare that spans more than four decades have earned our parks recognition as global leaders in the zoological community.

Assuring the health and well-being of the animals in our zoological parks is a responsibility our skilled professionals take extremely seriously. Our advanced programming applies a broad range of best practices based upon behavioral enrichment, preventive health, veterinary medicine and facilities design and management. Our programs and policies are affirmed by numerous federal and state laws, including the Animal Welfare Act, Endangered Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act and other statutes. The quality of care we provide these animals is further evidenced through the stringent accreditation process of two of the foremost professional zoological organizations to which we belong: The Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks & Aquariums.

Few animals have engaged the public imagination more than marine mammals: killer whales, beluga whales, dolphins, walruses, otters, manatees and sea lions. SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment’s goal is to inspire guests to care for and protect these amazing creatures.
