SEAWORLD HONORS 31 MARINES DURING
MONTH-LONG SPECIAL TRIBUTE IN JULY
Active-duty Marines recognized for their service during
One Ocean killer whale show
SAN DIEGO (July 14, 2015) — For decades, SeaWorld® has proudly welcomed and honored the men and women of our Armed Forces and their families. Since 2001, SeaWorld’s San Diego’s Waves of Honor program has provided complimentary admission to more than two million military members and their immediate family. Each day during the pre-show of the One Ocean killer whale show, the active duty military members and veterans are asked to stand and be recognized at Shamu Stadium.
In keeping with spirit of SeaWorld’s appreciation of their service, every day during the month of July, the park will pay special tribute to 31 outstanding active-duty Marines from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. One Marine each day will stand in uniform, while killer whale trainers recognize their dedication, bravery and sacrifice in front of thousands of park guests during a One Ocean preshow. Each Marine was selected by their commanding officers for their exemplary service.
“It’s really an honor and I feel real special that they chose me to come here and represent the Marine Corps,” said LCpl Logan Kohlrus.
“We’ve been to Busch Gardens, we’ve been to SeaWorld San Antonio, we love the parks, but for Waves of Honor to offer this to military families is great,” said Corrie Kohlrus, wife of LCpl Kohlrus, “It makes it even more special to come to the park.”
While the special tribute ends on July 31, SeaWorld will continue to welcome active-duty military by granting complimentary admission through the Waves of Honor program.
