SAN ANTONIO, TX (February 17, 2012) - Aquatica, SeaWorld San Antonio’s highly anticipated new waterpark, will welcome guests for the first time at its grand opening on May 19, 2012.
Construction at Aquatica San Antonio has been progressing since May 2011 and is the largest single investment the park has made since 1988. The opening comes just before the summer travel season kicks off on Memorial Day weekend, and the park has high hopes for the impact Aquatica will have for San Antonio’s thriving tourism industry.
“We are counting down the days to Aquatica San Antonio’s opening,” said Dan Decker, SeaWorld San Antonio’s Park President. “Our guests are excited about this new addition to SeaWorld, and we know it will have a great economic impact for San Antonio.”
The new park is an extension of the Aquatica waterpark in Orlando, Florida. Like its sister park, Aquatica San Antonio is designed as a South Seas oasis with all the luxury and amenities of a beachside resort, including terraced pools, expansive sandy beaches, and private cabanas – all in a tropical setting.
Designed in a way that could only be done by SeaWorld, Aquatica’s unique attractions will zoom, float and splash guests through amazing animal habitats and undersea adventures. Guests will also have the opportunity to feed and wade with stingrays through a unique animal encounter. Macaws, roseate spoonbills and a multitude of colorful fish add to the park’s playful, high-energy atmosphere.
